HOW TO TELL IF YOUR WISDOM TEETH ARE COMING IN

HOW TO TELL IF YOUR WISDOM TEETH ARE COMING IN

Your wisdom teeth are the teeth that you typically grow in between the ages of 18 and 21. These teeth are considered to be extra molars that some people do not ever grow in and other people have to have removed. These teeth can be painful or they can come in without causing any pain at all, it depends entirely on the teeth and the individual person that is experiencing their growth. If you are having tooth and jaw pain it is always best to consider a few different avenues when it comes to finding out what is causing your pain. If you suspect that you have wisdom teeth coming in, here are some different symptoms to think about and watch for.

SYMPTOMS OF WISDOM TEETH COMING IN

There are some very common symptoms to look for that can help you pinpoint the cause of your mouth pain. Some common symptoms that are associated with wisdom teeth growth.

  • Red and inflamed gums near the back of the jaw
  • Pain
  • Swelling and pus
  • Swollen lymph nodes in the jaw and neck area
  • Difficulty opening the mouth and swallowing due to jaw pain
  • Fever
  • Bad breath
  • Headaches
  • Jaw pain

These are all typical symptoms that you may experience once or you may experience all at once. If you have persistent pain that is irritating and that makes it difficult to eat or to sleep, you should see a dentist immediately to remedy the issue.

LOOKING AT SYMPTOMS

It is always helpful to look at symptoms a bit closer to figure out just what causes them and what to do about them. The most common symptoms are pain and swelling. This is going to be an intense, persistent, and sometimes debilitating pain. It may come and go and will often get worse when you eat or use your jaw. This means that you may have trouble eating, have trouble sleeping, and may develop headaches from the pain. When it comes to bad breath, pus, and fever, these are often associated with an infection in the gums because of the wisdom teeth. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms you should take the time to visit a dentist immediately as it can lead to damage in the jaw bone and serious infection that can spread to other areas of the body. If you feel that you have an infection in your gums as a result of your wisdom teeth, you should seek medical help to either have the teeth removed or to get a course of antibiotics to rid yourself of the infection. Though these symptoms are common of wisdom teeth, they can also be related to other dental issues. Pain in the jaw may be the result of grinding your teeth when you sleep, it could be the result of a cavity, or it could be gum disease. Fever could be related to an infection somewhere else in the body and pus in the mouth could be related to infection in another tooth. If you feel you have any issues in your mouth, you should take the time to see a dentist immediately to see what can be done about it.
